AN ARBITRARY THOUGHT.........

Finally, winter has started knocking the doors. I saw this thing outside the window - dead still ( or stoic shall i say??). In order to face the worse or bear the brunt of bitter things in life, you need to sacrifice some stuff to reduce the burden. I could relate life to this tree. After you loose everything , HOPE is what prevails and gives you the strength to fight it out and blossom soon!!

(HOLY CRAP !!! HOW COULD HUMANS FIND AND EXPLAIN PHILOSOPHY WITH EVERY DAMN THING IN UNIVERSE???? - THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY !!)

I SPOTTED A UFO!!!!!!

Holy cow!!!...I knew it was you!!

I know you are coming at a speed of 299792458 m/s . But I managed to catch a glimpse of you and shoot you in my camera when u stood still in front of my room!!!. Sometimes I wish NASA also names them after the person who has discovered it - like they do for other celestial bodies.

Puzzled???...gotcha!! this is just the light from my lamp. I adjusted the brightness and colour composition using picture editor to make it look like a flying saucer (UFO)...:P

FOCAL POINT

well, this is not another book full of advice and points to influence others, to manage time, behavioral aspects etc etc.Rather I find no one patient enough to read personal development books these days. The best way to learn it is from our own real life experiences. But I would like to share some of Brian Tracy's points (ok I admit!!) to simplify our lives. Believe me they seem to be pragmatic and trust me....it works!!

Six Ways to Simplify Your Daily Life

Begin today to simplify your work and your personal life. Set it as a goal, make a plan, and work on simplification every day. Here are some ways to get started.

1. Clean up the clutter in your life. Clear off your workspace completely before you begin work. Even if you have to put things on the floor, you should only have one task on the desk in front of you at any one time.

2. Go through your stacks of reading material with a garbage bag and begin throwing things away. Much of it no longer has value. Any magazine that is more than six months old is junk. Any information you can get somewhere else is junk. Most materials put aside for filing or storage are never looked at again. There are warehouses full of dead files that eventually have to be thrown away. There are homes, offices, and desks with piles of materials that will never be looked at by human eyes again.

3. To increase breathing space in your life, try leaving things off. Resist the temptation to turn on the radio at home or in your car. Leave the television off when you get up or arrive home. Create periods of silence in your life so that your mind can relax and function better.
One great advantage of leaving things off is that you will find yourself spending more time talking openly and honestly with your family and friends. As soon as you turn on the television or radio, all communication grinds to a halt. You can dramatically improve the quality of your life simply by developing the habit of leaving things off. Many people have gotten rid of their television sets completely or moved them to a separate room. They are astonished at the improvement that takes place in the quality of their personal lives as a result.

4. Go through your car, your closets, and your garage and get rid of everything that is out of fashion, obsolete, unnecessary, or irreparable. Break yourself of the "pack rat" mentality so many people learned from their parents. Give things away to needy people and needy causes. Keep your life clean and simple, refined and elegant.

5. Practice solitude on a daily basis. Take thirty to sixty minutes each day and sit quietly by yourself. Allow your mind to relax. Breathe deeply and let your mind float, wandering from subject to subject, with no pressure or direction. The daily practice of solitude can change your life. Every person who has ever accepted this advice and begun practicing solitude has been astonished at the overall improvement of the quality of his or her life. Sometimes, in solitude, you will come up with ideas and insights that are so profound and powerful that they change the entire direction of your career or your personal life. Just try it a couple of times and see.

6. Do something. Do anything. But take action immediately to begin to simplify your life. Once you have taken the first action, you will find yourself automatically propelled into taking action after action. In no time at all, you will have your life completely under control.

DISNEYLAND OF ANNAMALAITES

This section is dedicated to the disneyland of Chidambaram - Mariappa Nagar. Its a residential area in south-east of chidambaram , or, to be more specific adjecent to the railway station/line down south of Engg faculty of Annamalai University. There are around 200-300 individual houses . Most of them (atleast 80%) are occupied by students, rest by staff and others. It is divided into two parts, North and South to make life easier for the postmen (even though they screw-up).

It was during my third year (2000) that I moved into this fairyland. Initially it was myself and my good old school friend called Kiccha (who was doin CSE). After hunt and incoming offers for/from possible room mates, the results were: 2 CSE fruits and 4 Accused Chemical Engineers.Our house was the in first north street overlooking a canal (vaika..as we call it).It was quite a big house ..big enough to fit 6 ppl. The rent was 1800 at that time. On the other side of the canal was a hut-settlement with 24/7 gaana songs , screaming kids and crying babies...well...describing it as "decibel-inferno" wud seem appropriate. There were a lot of things and stories which I wud like to share about our stay in mariappa.But let me give you all a first taste about the place , which ,infamously is known as the "Paradise of pathogens"

• Couple of Le "Mess"edions or hotels
• Mosquito population has overtaken China . If you are a smoker, then they dont quench their thirst on ur blood often.
• Aspiring athletes can practice sprinting when you see wriggling snakes on the road and inches away from your legs .
• Forgot to mention - Caninophobia and mysophobia is inevitable - Dogs and Pigs beware
• New bikes can test their shock absorbers in plethora of potholes
• Knowledge of swimming compulsory during rainy season
• Paracetamol and anacin are most favoured anti-virus softwares.
• pattai and kattai available at nominal rates and varieties.
• Frequent power cuts wud bring back those 18-19th century days . When I told about this to my friends, they gave the same suspicious look which the forest inspector gave in M Night Shyamalan's "VILLAGE" and asked me: "you...you live in there????"

Well despite these long... shortcomings, We had a great fun. I will post some interesting incidents which happend when we stayed there soon...

A WORD OF GRATITUDE

For those who know tamil , this can be considered as a 'kadavul vazthu'.

Parents , friends and loved ones are always there to support us as pillars .But if we were asked "what are you ? or "who are you?" , I think its our profession which gives us the identity. I take previlege in dedicating this post to something....or rather I should call it someone that (who) gave me the time, space and determination to come up in life. To all chemical engineers !!- My salutation to this magnificent field of engineering.

DOES APPEARANCE REALLY MATTER???

A conventional way to start a blog (note: I am not a religious fanatic) . This dude on the right , known as Ganesh- the elephant-faced deity, remover of obstacles and incarnation of wisdom, is referred as the ugliest god in mythology. Ironically he is worshipped by the most beautiful women !!.
